In Person Seminar: Foundations of Longevity - January 23, 2027
A hands-on longevity seminar to build strength and bring body, breath, and mind into balance. Learn qigong movements and habits that last.
Foundations of Longevity: A Full-Day Seminar
Longevity means more than adding years. The goal is to stay strong, mobile, and independent for the years you have. This hands-on seminar, based on the book Foundations of Longevity by award-winning author Christina J. Barea, shows you how to start building that foundation.
You do not need an athletic background. If you are new to exercise or returning after time away, you will begin where you are, and every movement can be adjusted to your current ability.
What you will explore
- Foundations of Five Phases Theory, a philosophy based on Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Discover your Element (Phase): Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, Fire
- Learn Qigong movements optimized for each Element (Phase), "Daoist 5"
- Experience the deep connection between body, breath, and mind, how they work together, and why a change in one tends to affect the others
- Learn how the body systems of bones, muscles, and connective tissue, support longevity, explained in plain language
- Learn safe movements and posture that protect your joints
- Gentle qigong (slow movement coordinated with breath) and simple breathwork
- Experience how subtle changes in posture can dramatically change how you move and conserve energy
- Explore small habits that can add up to meaningful change over time
- Class provides a starting point and a simple plan to take home
What to expect
The day blends short teaching sessions with guided movement, so you will spend as much time practicing as listening. Seated and standing options are available throughout. You will leave with tools you can begin using right away, though lasting change comes from the practice you do after you leave.
Who should attend
Anyone who wants to regain strength, move with more confidence, and take a more active role in their long-term health.

Comfortable clothing, supportive shoes, a water bottle, and a notebook. A yoga mat is welcome if you have one.

Please check with your doctor before attending if you have a medical condition, an injury, or concerns about starting an exercise program.
